Explosive Eighteen – More Like A Bottle Rocket

I LOVE Stephanie Plum.  The series by Janet Evanovich has been my favorite from years.  I could easily sit and read any book of the series in one day if everyone would just leave me the hell alone.  I was SO excited when Explosive Eighteen hit the shelves.  I sent my husband to pick it up for me… yes I bought an actual hardcover book.  We have the whole series in tangible paper product.  My 20-year-old daughter will read them over and over again.

So I sit down to read the book and I’m reading and it starts out with a mysterious trip Stephanie took to Hawaii.  I’m hooked.  I think it’s going to be some truly fantastic story and I am waiting with anticipation to find out what happened.  Then it sort of leaks out slowly through the next couple of chapters in a very anti-climactic type of way.

I don’t know about you but I know part of the draw to the books is the love triangle between Stephanie, Ranger and Morelli.  This is where the book totally lacked in my opinion.  It wasn’t woven well into the story this time around.  But I will forgive Janet because of how the book ended.

I am really hoping that Annie doesn’t make an appearance in another Stephanie book.  Her character does nothing for me and she seems out of place.  It would have been better if they used some gypsy from the Burg.

Overall it was a good book but definitely not her best.  If you are into the series already I don’t need to tell you to read it because I know you will.  If you aren’t into the series yet start with One For the Money and work your way to Explosive Eighteen.  It’s a light, fun series with a slight hint of romance and some suspense.

I give it 4 laughs since I laughed literally out loud about 4 times.  Some of her other books get a much higher rating but if you laugh 4 times while reading a book it’s better than not at all.
